It is NOT OKAY to have sex with your aunt or uncle. The Bible clearly teaches against these kinds of sexual relations. The Book of Leviticus 18:6–30 helps us to properly comprehend the reasons why God frowns upon sexual relations between relatives. This is what it says:
“None of you shall approach anyone who is near of kin to him, to uncover his nakedness; I am the LORD. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father or the nakedness of your mother. She is your mother; you shall not uncover her nakedness. The nakedness of your father’s wife you shall not uncover; it is your father’s nakedness. The nakedness of your sister, the daughter of your father, or the daughter of your mother, whether born at home or elsewhere, you shall not uncover. The nakedness of your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter, their nakedness, you shall not uncover; for theirs is your own nakedness. The nakedness of your father’s wife’s daughter, begotten by your father—she is your sister—you shall not uncover her nakedness. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s sister; she is near kin to your father. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister, for she is near kin to your mother. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s brother. You shall not approach his wife; she is your aunt. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law; she is your son’s wife. You shall not uncover her nakedness. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife; it is your brother’s nakedness. You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, nor shall you take her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter to uncover her nakedness. They are close kin to her. It is wickedness. Nor shall you take a woman as a rival to her sister, to uncover her nakedness while the other is alive. Also, you shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness as long as she is in her customary impurity. Moreover, you shall not lie carnally with your neighbor’s wife, to defile yourself with her. And you shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD. You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion.
Do not defile yourselves with any of these things, for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. For the land is defiled; therefore, I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you (for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled), lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you. For whoever commits them shall be cut off from among their people.”
From this passage, we learn the following principles:
It is wrong to have sex with your biological parents, i.e., your biological father or mother. This is because they are the ones who brought you into this world. This means that you cannot sleep with your biological father if you are a woman, and you cannot sleep with your biological mother if you are a man.
If your biological father marries another woman—that is, if your mother is deceased or divorced—it will be wrong for you to have sex with her. This is because she is your father’s wife, and seeing her nakedness translates to you seeing your own father’s nakedness.
It is wrong to have sex with your sister, half-sister, or step-sister. What do we mean by these three categories?
- The first one is a sister with whom you share both biological parents.
- The second one is a half-sister with whom your share either of the biological parents, that is, a sister borne out the union between your biological father and another woman (not your biological mother), or a sister borne out of the union between your biological mother and another man (not your biological father)
- The last one is a stepsister with whom you do not share any biological parents. For example, after the death of your biological mother, your father may marry a woman who has a daughter or daughters. Or after the death of your biological father, your biological mother may get married to a man who has a daughter or daughters. In both cases, you end up with what we call step-sisters.
It is wrong to have sex with either the daughter of your son or the daughter of your daughter. This is because their nakedness is like that of your very own son or daughter.
It is wrong to have sex with your aunt, that is, the sister of your biological father or biological mother. This is because seeing her nakedness is just like seeing your father’s or mother’s nakedness. This is because she is next of kin to your father or mother.
It is wrong to have sex with a woman married to your father’s brother. This is because she is also your aunt. Therefore, seeing her nakedness is as good as seeing your own father’s nakedness.
It is wrong to have sex with your daughter-in-law. This is because she is married to your son, and by seeing her nakedness, you are uncovering the nakedness of your own son, your own flesh and blood.
It is wrong to have sex with your brother’s wife. This is because seeing her nakedness is just like uncovering your own brother’s nakedness.
It is wrong to have sex with a woman and her daughter. This is because the two are closely related. Seeing the nakedness of both is wickedness before the LORD God.
It is wrong to have sex with your wife’s sister. This is because the two are next of kin to each other.
It is wrong to have sex with a woman during her monthly period. This is because when you do so, you are uncovering her fountain, which is not right.
It is wrong to have sex with your neighbor’s wife. When you do so, you are defiling yourself. In the Old Testament, the punishment for such behavior was death by stoning.
It is wrong for a man to have sex with a fellow man. It is an abomination before the eyes of the Lord God.
It is wrong for a woman to have sex with an animal. To God, having sex with an animal is a perversion.
There you have it. If you have been thinking of engaging in any of the aforementioned sexual relations, please back off. You are treading on very dangerous ground. This is because the outcome of such relationships is sin, which ultimately leads to alienation from God.
In the Bible, individuals who used to engage in such practices were either burned alive or stoned to death! Thai is how serious it was. In addition, because such practices were an abomination and a perversion to the LORD God, the land used to vomit the inhabitants therein.
If you are already engaging in either of these sexual relations, I urge you, by the mercies of God, to please STOP when there is still HOPE for you. Right now, get on your knees, ask God for forgiveness, mend your ways, and cut off any links with whomever it is with whom you are having these affairs. Better still, give your life to Christ Jesus, by getting born again and becoming a true child of God.
Let these words from Romans 6:23 and 2 Corinthians 5:17 by the Apostle Paul guide you into repentance and salvation:
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Receive Jesus today, get your sins forgiven, and start a new journey of salvation.
If you are a Christian engaging in either of the aforementioned sexual relations, I leave you with the words of the Apostle Paul as recorded in 1 Corinthians 6:18, which says:
“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
