Bible verses about life being short

The following are Bible verses that teach us that our life here on earth is short.

Genesis 47:7-9

“Then Joseph brought in his father Jacob and set him before Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed Pharaoh. Pharaoh said to Jacob, ‘How old are you?’

And Jacob said to Pharaoh, ‘The days of the years of my pilgrimage are one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.’”

2 Samuel 19:35

“I am eighty years old today. Can I discern between the good and the bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear any longer the voices of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be a further burden to my lord the king?”

Job 7:6-10

“My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle and are spent without hope. Oh, remember that my life is a breath! My eye will never again see good.

The eye of him who sees me will see me no more; while your eyes are upon me, I shall no longer be.

As the cloud disappears and vanishes away, he who goes down to the grave does not come up. He shall never return to his house, nor shall his place know him anymore.”

Job 14:10-12

But man dies and is laid away; indeed, he breathes his last, and where is he? As water disappears from the sea and a river becomes parched and dries up, man lies down and does not rise. Till the heavens are no more, they will not awaken nor be roused from their sleep.”

Job 24:22-24

“But God draws the mighty away with His power; He rises up, but no man is sure of life. He gives them security, and they rely on it. Yet His eyes are on their ways. They are exalted for a little while, and then they are gone. They are brought low; they are taken out of the way like all others; they dry out like heads of grain.”

Psalm 78:39

“For He remembered that they were but flesh, a breath that passes away and does not come again.”

Psalm 90:10

“The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”

Ecclesiastes 12:1-7

“Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come and the years draw near when you say, ‘I have no pleasure in them’:

While the sun and the light, the moon and the stars, are not darkened, and the clouds do not return after the rain, in the day when the keepers of the house tremble and the strong men bow down; when the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look through the windows grow dim;

When the doors are shut in the streets and the sound of grinding is low, when one rises up at the sound of a bird, and all the daughters of music are brought low,.

Also, they are afraid of height and of terrors in the way; when the almond tree blossoms, the grasshopper is a burden, and desire fails.

For man goes to his eternal home, and the mourners go about the streets.

Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed, or the golden bowl is broken, or the pitcher is shattered at the fountain, or the wheel is broken at the well.

Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God, who gave it.”

James 4:13-14

“Come now, you who say, ‘today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit, whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.’”

I hope this is helpful. God bless you.

Dear friend,

Life without Jesus Christ is difficult, if not impossible. That is why it is important to receive Him as your personal savior so that He can help you navigate through life’s challenges successfully.

If you are willing to receive Jesus Christ as your savior, that is, to be born again, pray sincerely as follows:

“Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and hereby ask for your forgiveness;

I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that you are the only begotten Son of the living God.

I believe that you were sent by your Father to the earth to save sinners like me.

I now accept you as my personal Lord and Savior.

Come into my heart and baptize me with the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for saving me.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

Amen!”

Congratulations friend! You are now a born-again Christian!

Welcome to the family of God!
