This is what the Bible says about liars and lying, as recorded in the KJV or King James Version:

1. Liars will be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8).

The Bible says that all liars will be cast into the lake, burning with fire and brimstone. This is according to Revelation 21:8, which says:

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

2. Liars belong to the devil (John 8:44).

The Bible says that liars are of their father, the devil. This is according to John 8:44, which says:

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

3. All men are liars (Psalm 116:11).

The Bible says that all men are liars. This is according to Psalm 116:11, which says:

“I said in my haste, All men are liars.”

Similar sentiments are echoed in Romans 3:4, which says:

“God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, that thou may be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou are judged.”

4. Liars deny that Jesus is the Christ (1 John 2:22–23).

The Bible says that liars are those who refuse to acknowledge Jesus as Christ. This is according to 1 John 2:22–23, which says:

“Who is a liar, but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.”

5. God frustrates the tokens of liars (Isaiah 44:24-25).

The Bible says God frustrates the tokens of liars. This is according to Isaiah 44:24–25, which says:

“Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself; that frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish.”

6. A sword is upon the liars (Jeremiah 50:36).

The Bible says that a sword is upon all those who lie. This is according to Jeremiah 50:36, which says:

“A sword is upon the liars, and they shall dote; a sword is upon her mighty men, and they shall be dismayed.”

7. God hates liars (Proverbs 6:16–19).

The Bible says that God hates a lying tongue. This is according to Proverbs 6:16–19, which says:

“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”

8. Believers should put away lying (Ephesians 4:25).

The Bible warns believers against lying to one another. This is according to Ephesians 4:25, which says:

“Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.”

9. Liars shall not tarry in God’s sight (Psalm 101:7).

The Bible says that liars shall not tarry in God’s sight. This is according to Psalm 101:7, which says:

“He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house; he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.”

10. The LORD abhors liars (Psalm 5:6).

The Bible says that God abhors liars. This is according to Psalm 5:6, which says:

“Thou shall destroy them that speak leasing; the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.”

11. A liar is one who pretends to love God but hates his brother (1 John 4:20)

The Bible says that a liar is someone who purports to love God but hates his brother. This is according to 1 John 4:20, which says:

“If a man says, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?”

12. A lying witness shall perish (Proverbs 19:9).

“A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.”

13. Liars refuse to acknowledge that Jesus Christ came in the form of flesh (2 John 7:7).

“For many deceivers are entered into the world who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and antichrist.”

14. Liars will be shut out of the kingdom of God (Revelation 22:15).

“For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”

15. The words of liars are short-lived (Proverbs 12:19).

The Bible says that words spoken by liars have a short life span. This is according to Proverbs 12:19, which says:

“The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.”

16. Lying lips are an abomination to God (Proverbs 12:22).

The Bible says that lips that lie are an abomination to God. This is according to Proverbs 12:22, which says:

Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but they that deal truly are his delight.”

17. Lying lips shall be put to silence (Psalm 31:18).

The Bible says that lying lips will be silenced. This is according to Psalm 31:18, which says:

“Let the lying lips be put to silence, which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.”

18. Treasures obtained through lying may result in death (Proverbs 21:6).

The Bible says that treasures obtained through lying may cause death. This is according to Proverbs 21:6, which says:

“The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.”

19. He who hides hatred with lying lips is a fool (Proverbs 10:18).

The Bible says whoever conceals hatred with lying lips is a fool. This is according to Proverbs 10:18, which says:

“He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.”
